Bridal Convention in Poland

A classic Polish wedding used to be a three or yet four day occasion. Frequently, it was held outside in backyards, forests and buildings. They were a celebration of life and the wealth of nature. Now, however, many couples choose to omit the temple and just include a meeting in their residence or backyard with close family and friends. They also enjoy the tremendous meals, music and vodka but it’s not quite what it once was.

On the night of the marriage, just before midnight ( or around it if a one- moment bride), comes the famous meeting known as “oczepiny”, the opening of the bride. At this point, the mask is removed and she dons her czepek – a cover worn by Polish priestesses to reflect their status as wedded women. This is also when the extended tresses are unbraided and cut quick, as a symbol of her shift from boyhood to woman.

As the couple leave the church, guests shower them with coins and granules, to provide them luck and prosperity They next change into their celebration attire. It is also conventional to lob little, rounded coins into the couple’s locks– whoever collects the most will remain in charge of their finances.

The party begins, and you’ll find a lot of dancing going on. Poles believe that this reduces the side effects of too much having. There will be a lot of meals also, including lots of different kinds of sweets, sweets and ice cream.
